Speaker Information:
Joan K. Teach, Ph.D. has been a special educator working with the LD/ADHD population for over 50 years. As the Director of a center for students with neurobiological needs, she investigated techniques that increase success and survival with her students. She facilitates support groups for parents, adults and women with LD/ADHD and is a catalyst toward growth and success. Upon retirement, she developed a client specialty to help those with learning and attention difficulties discover their strengths. Utilizing these advantages she guides clients in making positive life choices. LDA member since 1980’s, LDAGA’s President, LDAA Committee and Board Member. Local Coordinator of CHADD in Georgia, workshop presenter, monthly free support groups for Adults, Parents, Women. National and international speaker.
I have presented frequently at National CHADD and National Learning Disabilities Association of American Conferences throughout the US, the Annual Conference on School Mental Health, and am a yearly presenter at the International Society of Simulation and Games, presenting in over 20 international cities. My speaking engagements locally focus on the LD/ADHD population, memory and mindfulness. They have included presentations to CDC, local support groups, schools-public and private, mental health symposiums, workforce understanding, parent special focus groups. I had a monthly Blog for Teachers at www.CHADD.org, and have 15 journal publications. I have served on the State and National Board for CHADD and LDAA. I will provide my full Vita upon request.

Important parking and direction information:
There are many large events held at the center, mostly on the weekends. Because of that, they have several parking lots. The two lots that are closest to the building are the ones you want to park in, especially since it will be dark when we leave the center.
The first lot surrounds the building. There are about 35 spots there. The second lot is directly across from the front entrance. It’s a parking lot of a business that allows the center to use their lot for evening events. The sign says 200 - The Capital Companies. It’s on Bluestone Road, like the center, but the sign is on the side of the lot that faces the CityWalk shopping center. Heritage Green’s parking map does NOT have this lot marked.
Click here for directions, but use above information for parking lots.
