Batteries

  • Remember AA, AAA, C, D, & 9Volt batteries can now be thrown out with regular trash 

 

Bedding

  • Douglas County Battered Women's Center
  • Local vets will take old towels and bed linens
  • Animal Shelters and Hospitals will take them to use with the animals 

 

Books and Magazines

  • Goodwill's annual book sale
  • Books for Soldiers
  • Scottish Rite Children's Hospital or any other hospital
  • Leave your current copy in the waiting room of doctors offices, oil change shops, coffee shops, etc. Tear your address label from the front.
  • Public libraries and schools, especially age-appropriate periodicals and books.

ReBoot acquires the equipment, evaluates it, repairs it (if needed), loads licensed software, distributes the equipment to people with disabilities, and trains the person on the equipment. Any items we cannot use we will scrap & the money raised will go directly into helping us serve more people. We have 6 ReBoot Training Centers located around the state. We are operated 85% by dedicated volunteers - by people with disabilities, for people with disabilities.

Located in Decatur. re : loom employs and empowers homeless and low income individuals through weaving beautifully designed products our of recycled materials.
  • Fabric and Yarn – Tiny Stitches – www.tinystitches.org We provide basic layettes containing clothing and other items to disadvantaged newborns and preemies in north Georgia. We provide burial ensembles to any family who suffers the loss of an infant regardless of their financial status. Donations of fabric and yarn suitable for infant items, sewing notions, and purchased baby items.
  • New handmade blankets and afghans – Project Linus – www.projectlinus.org It is our mission to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer "blanketeers."

 

Electronics

  • Hope House will pick up your household items at no charge - http://www. ClothingPickupATL.com. This is an outreach program focusing on single women and mothers with children transitioning from domestic violence. 
  • Atlanta Step Up Society - http://www.atlantastepupsociety.org/ Free pick up. Their mission is to help the suffering veterans, the homeless and those suffering from addiction to rebuild their lives.

  • Check your local area for curbside recycling programs or recycling centers. Many will take glass, plastic, metal/aluminum cans, office paper, newspaper/magazines/catalogs, cardboard/corrugated boxes.
  • Keep Cobb Beautiful offers information on recycling and green events. They have electronics recycling days with drop offs at a couple of locations.
  • Roswell Recycling Center –Even though we can put recycling out on the curb, this takes it to a higher level.

  • Staples, OfficeMax and Office Depot have ink cartridge recycling programs.
  • Cartridge World is a GREAT place to not only recycle your old cartridges, but it's so much cheaper to get new ink from them, too (and it does not void any manufacturers warranties).
  • COTA (Children's Organ Transplant Organization) is a wonderful place to send ink cartridges & cell phones, as others will benefit.
