Dr. Joan Teach is an expert on ADHD and will be speaking about ADHD's characteristics, what they mean and how they manifest themselves in the clients we serve.
Speaker Information:
Joan K. Teach, Ph.D. is an educational consultant in the Atlanta, GA area. She recently retired as the Director of the Lullwater School from 1979 to 2006. Throughout a lifetime of working with the special needs population, Dr. Teach has developed strategies to assist AD/HD children and adults understand their own learning styles.
She earned a Ph.D. from Georgia State University, MS from Purdue University and BS from Wittenberg University and serves as an adjunct professor at Kennesaw State University. In addition to being the current president of the Learning Disabilities Association of Georgia, she also sits on the National LDA Board.
Dr. Teach has presented at many national and international symposiums on the topics of teaching and understanding the AD/HD learner. She initiated one of the first CHADD groups in Georgia and is a past member of the CHADD Board of Directors. Currently she serves CHADD as the coordinator for the State of Georgia.
For many years she provided support groups for parents and adults with Attention Deficit Disorders. Her passion is designing games and simulations as unique interventions toward learning to the benefit of her AD/HD students and adults.
