"Universal Organizing Principles and Cultural Differences"

 

Judith Kolberg will share what she has learned from her journeys to Tokyo and Amsterdam. Specifically, organizing principles that she has found to be true cross-culturally, such as honoring the past, reducing stress, and addressing the needs of the challenged client. The presentation also describes how the cultural environment in which our colleagues are growing their businesses differs from that of the US.

Judith Kolberg

FileHeads Professional Organizers

 

Judith Kolberg is a native of Levittown , New York . She pioneered the Atlanta-based professional organizing company, FileHeads Professional Organizers in 1989 following a career in political organizing and office administration in both cities. Though a skillful organizer, it became apparent some of her clients’ needs were unaddressed by traditional organizing. She founded the National Study Group on Chronic Disorganization, now the Institute for Challenging Disorganization (ICD) and is credited with launching an entire field of professional organizing specifically dedicated to addressing the needs of individuals who are challenged by chronic disorganized. FileHeads continues to specialize with chronically disorganized people in the business environment. Respected by her peers for her innovative organizing ideas and an ability to forecast future trends, Judith is the recipient of the industry’s highest honors including the prestigious Founder’s Award from the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) and the Highlighter Award from the ICD. Her contribution to the inaugural organizers’ certification program earned her the President’s Award, and she is a former president of the GA chapter.

 

 

Judith formed Squall Press to publish her books and has also published with Routledge, a worldwide academic press. Select books are recommended reading by the Board of Certification for Professional Organizers and required by the ICD certification program. In all, her books have sold a quarter of million copies in the US , England , Korea , the Netherlands , Saudi Arabia , and Japan . Squall Press has also brought other organizer/authors to publication. Judith’s depth of experience and humorous delivery has made her a popular speaker throughout the US live, via teleclass and webinar on a wide range of organization/disorganization topics. Her international engagements have including Amsterdam , Tokyo , Costa Rica and the Bahamas . She is a virtual instructor for Pearson Education, a global education company. Judith has been a featured organ iz er on The Learning Channel’s “Buried Alive” series and is currently the Director of the Atlanta Hoarding Task Force. She has appeared in more than 80 print, TV, radio and web outlets. A graduate of the State University of New York at Binghamton with a degree in Sociology, she currently lives in Atlanta, GA where she takes good care of her Mom, continues to see clients, writes, publishes, and blogs.
