Program Topic:  Helping Your Grieving Client

Grief is the most universal and most profound of all human experiences. Yet, it is the most neglected and misunderstood. Left unresolved, grief diminishes the capacity for happiness and full functionality. When the heart is broken the head doesn't work right.

Loss or any change in a familiar pattern or behavior, such as death, divorce, moving, job loss, and marriage (yes, the good "stuff" too!), can cause grief. In fact, more than 40 different types of loss may be experienced in a lifetime. Frequently, these are precisely the moments when clients seek the guidance of a Professional Organizer. Professional Organizers are tasked with moving the clients forward when clients are often the least capable of doing so.

Please join Anne Keeton, Certified Grief Recovery Specialist and Life Coach, as she shares with NAPO Georgia what grief is, the myths of grief that interfere with progress, and how to respond in ways that are both caring and effective.

Speaker: Anne Keeton, Certified Grief Recovery Specialist and Life Coach

Anne Keeton is a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist and Life Coach whose mission is to help her clients feel better and face the future with hope, choice and certainty. She works with individuals and groups using the step-by-step Grief Recovery Method, with programs that range from seven to twelve weeks long.

Keeton earned her certification from the Grief Recovery Institute, giving her expertise in the Grief Recovery Method in addition to her own recovery methods. The Grief Recovery Method has helped hundreds of thousands of people worldwide since its inception over 30 years ago.

As someone who has experienced—and successfully overcome—grief herself, Keeton is well equipped to help others move through loss to relief. She finds joy in her two children: William, 17, and Cat, 13.
